Context: The government of Vanuatu, in collaboration with international partners, has been promoting agroforestry, organic farming, and climate-resilient and sustainable agriculture. The Overarching Productive Sector Policy 2020-2030, under the National Sustainable Development Plan (NSDP) 2016-2030, is the central framework guiding the development of Vanuatu’s productive sectors, with a focus on agriculture, livestock, forestry and biosecurity.
Objective: Contribute to better coordinating the overall implementation of Vanuatu's NSDP.
Approach: Given the unique context of the project, following on directly from GIZ’s implementation of the VAVAC project, the overall approach is to provide a systematic expansion. The project delivers support to improve the coordination of the overall implementation of Vanuatu's NSDP by providing technical assistance to support the project’s line ministries and to support relevant Civil Society Organisations through the VanGo (Vanuatu's NGO umbrella organisation).
Services: Strengthen institutional capacities and policy dialogue platforms. Enhance capacities for Public Finance Management. Improve coordination and dialogue with CSOs. Boost capacities in agriculture and trade.
Results: Institutions strengthened, capacities strengthened, platforms strengthened.
