Launch of Start-Up Wave – A Unique Virtual Incubator, Seed-funded by GIZ and FCDO

The Small Industries Development Bank of India - GIZ Responsible Enterprise Finance Programme aims to increase capital flow to social enterprises to help them scale up their business models.

However, apart from capital, businesses need mentoring support in different areas, e.g. marketing, HR, business modelling, financial planning etc. Support institutions like incubators are mainly in metro cities and not where social enterprises operate typically - in underserved markets. StartUpWave is a virtual incubation platform conceptualized by GIZ and supported by FCDO, which aims to provide a blend of online and physical support to enterprises in any location.

Being a virtual platform, it can be accessed by anyone anywhere. It complements the efforts of incubators by providing webinars, online mentoring, etc. It is a unique, sustainable business model, involving a large network of incubators, investors and corporates.
