MoU signed between GIZ and Swachh Andhra Corporation
Swachha Andhra Corporation (SAC), Government of Andhra Pradesh and GIZ signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the presence of the Honourable Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Mr N. Chandra Babu Naidu. SAC and GIZ agreed to collaborate jointly towards ‘Swachh Andhra Pradesh’ mission. This mission, aligned to the national mission launched by government of India in 2014 to improve sanitation conditions in the country, is envisaged to implement the schemes of ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’, and achieve its objectives.
Mr. Chandra Babu Naidu congratulated GIZ for the excellent work in Andhra Pradesh, and urged support in future in Sanitation. The event was also attended by Dr. P. Narayana, Minister, Municipal Administration & Urban Development, and other government officials.
The key areas of support, where GIZ will serve as a technical knowledge partner are:
- Community and public toilets management
- Solid waste management
- Septage management
- Non-conventional wastewater management
GIZ will advise and support in identifying best practices, technologies and knowledge on these subjects. GIZ will help SAC in identifying potential resource agencies to achieve the objectives of the Swachh Bharat Mission in the state.
GIZ will also help scope capacity building needs for different partner / stakeholder groups from the urban sanitation sector.
