Global project on human mobility related to climate change takes off in PH
GIZ is now implementing the global programme Sustainable Management of Human Mobility within the context of Climate Change in the Philippines, besides the Pacific and the Caribbean.
The programme was commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
It enhances local and international knowledge on how to deal with climate-induced migration, resettlement, and displacement in small island states such as the Philippine archipelago, which is one of the countries most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change.
One of the strongest typhoons on record, Haiyan, killed at least 6,300 people in the country in 2013.
