ReNOKA “We are a River” Programme Launch

The Government of the Kingdom of Lesotho launched ReNOKA (“We Are a River”), a national programme and active citizen movement to advance integrated catchment management in Lesotho and the Orange-Senqu river basin.

ReNOKA was officially launched on the 14 May 2021 by his Majesty King Letsie III, Lesotho’s Prime Minister, the Right Honourable Dr. Moeketsi Majoro, the EU Head of Delegation to Lesotho, Christian Manahl and the German Embassy in South Africa, Lesotho and eSwatini, Deputy Head of Mission Dr. Rüdiger Lotz at Ha Koporale in Lesotho.

ReNOKA is driven by the Government of Lesotho with support from the European Union (EU) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH trough the “Support to Integrated Catchment Management in Lesotho” programme. Together with local and regional partners that include technical experts, civil society, private sector, and communities, ReNOKA aims to build a capable framework to restore, protect and manage the Orange-Senqu River Basin, starting in Lesotho.
