BACKUP Health: Our Technical Assistance
BACKUP Health supports state and civil society organisations in partner countries to make efficient use of the resources provided by global financing mechanisms to strengthen their national health systems.
As a technical partner of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, BACKUP provides technical assistance to focus countries through all stages of the grant cycle, primarily to build up resilient and sustainable systems for health in line with the strategy of the Global Fund.
During funding request development, BACKUP supports state and non-state partners in organizing and conducting inclusive country dialogues to align on national priorities, as well as the development of evidence-based policies and strategies. During grant making, BACKUP supports partners to define ideal implementation arrangements and roadmaps to enable efficient implementation of the grants. Throughout the implementation cycle, BACKUP provides technical assistance to support capacity development, evidence generation and innovation for potential scale-up. BACKUP’s support is provided in different forms such as direct advisory by inhouse-experts, engagement and deployment of external experts, as well as financial support.
