Development of South Africa’s 6th Climate Change Tracking Report
INVITATION TO TENDER
South Africa is deeply committed to addressing climate change and fostering a just transition towards a low-carbon economy. The National Climate Change Act 22 of 2024 further strengthens the country's response through instruments like sectoral emissions targets and carbon budgets. To effectively track South Africa’s progress in achieving its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), and to inform both domestic policy and international reporting under the Paris Agreement's transparency framework, the development of a robust National Climate Change Monitoring and Evaluation system is critical. The 6th Climate Change Tracking Report is a crucial component of this system, aimed at meticulously tracking the nation's transition towards a lower-carbon economy and a climate-resilient society.
In support of this vital work, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, through its Climate Support Programme, seeks to appoint a qualified national consultant. The selected consultant will be responsible for developing, updating, and finalizing South Africa's 6th Climate Change Tracking Report, with a key focus on enhancing its quality for diverse target audiences. This assignment will be undertaken in close collaboration with, and under the leadership of, the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE).
GIZ invites eligible companies with local presence in South Africa to participate in this tender. Tender documents are available for downloading see below.
