State Secretary Jäger appointed new Chair of the GIZ Supervisory Board

Appointment takes effect on 13 April 2018

The Supervisory Board of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH has elected Martin Jäger to serve as its new Chair.   Mr. Jäger  joined the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) as State Secretary in March 2018. Prior to taking up his post at BMZ, Jäger served as State Secretary in the Ministry of the Interior, Digitisation and Migration for the federal state of Baden-Württemberg. Jäger (54) has also previously held various management positions in federal ministries, the Federal Chancellery, the private sector, and the diplomatic service. ‘As Chair of the GIZ Supervisory Board, I also look forward to focusing on urgent and important international cooperation issues. within the context of shaping global policy.’ 

The GIZ Supervisory Board comprises an equal number of shareholder and employee representatives (10 each), and appoints, monitors and advises the Management Board as it carries out its role.
