Hello from Brasília,

My name is Anderson Falcão. I am responsible for the strategies in the areas of communication, digital transformation and information technology at GIZ Brazil.

I am convinced that communication and technology play a central role in international cooperation – especially in such challenging times as today. Digital and sustainable solutions expand our ability to generate knowledge, connect actors and develop solutions at scale.

Digital transformation means two things to us: we work both on internal processes and on innovative digital solutions for our partners, strengthening project delivery. This also involves continuously developing our IT systems and our digital knowledge and skills, which are essential to ensure efficiency, scalability and reliability across our portfolio.

Since the beginning of my career over 20 years ago, I have been working in the field of communication and in its interfaces with the digital world. For many years, I worked for various ministries, such as the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Justice. And I was involved in shaping the digital strategy of the Brazilian public media company Empresa Brasil de Comunicação. I then gained experience in international organisations such as the European Commission and embassies as well as cultural institutes of EU countries before joining GIZ.

What has accompanied me through all these stages is a core conviction: communication carries the responsibility of making complex realities understandable, tangible and connected to people’s everyday lives.

If we do not communicate effectively, simplistic or even misleading narratives are more likely to prevail. It is our role to explain the complexity of the world and potential solutions, and to demonstrate that cooperation is the right path – and that we can only overcome these challenges by working together.

A good example of this is the expansion of green hydrogen in Brazil. When our first project in this field began, the topic was still relatively unknown. Communication played an important role in helping to introduce this technology and highlight the wide range of opportunities it offers within the framework of Brazil-Germany Cooperation – alongside many other efforts that are now reflected in a growing number of related initiatives. That shows what’s possible when we communicate relevant issues effectively.

This is exactly the standard we strive for at GIZ Brazil. We work across a broad portfolio in the fields of forestry, urban development, energy and economic transformation. In the area of communication, we support these projects in effectively achieving their goals. At the same time, we contribute to making the international cooperation between Germany and Brazil more visible.

At GIZ I particularly value the diversity, the multicultural environment and the collaboration with local partners and all stakeholders involved. It becomes clear that many of the major challenges of our time could not be achieved by only one of the parties. Solutions require dialogue, trust and the willingness to explore new paths together. That’s exactly what I work on every day.

Um grande abraço!
