OBJECTIVE

Support Peru’s transition toward inclusive and sustainable green economic growth.

APPROACH

Strengthen the enabling environment for developing a circular economy in Peru, aligned with the EU Green Deal’s "Farm to Fork" strategy.

SERVICES

1. Policy and Regulatory Frameworks

GIZ will support the design, review, and implementation of policies, regulations, and financial instruments that enable circular economy development by:

Promoting a national circular economy strategy with gender and human rights perspectives, integrating sectoral roadmaps.

Preparing and updating circular economy roadmaps in priority sectors, aligned with the National Roadmap.

Establishing mechanisms and incentives to foster circular practices, clean technologies, and sustainable production.

Developing technical standards and certifications for circular products, aligned with trade and human rights standards.

Promoting environmental taxation, green procurement, and clean production agreements to drive market transformation.

Addressing barriers to green finance and identifying instruments that promote circular investments in line with the Green Finance Roadmap and EFSD+.

Providing assistance for Peru’s participation in global circular initiatives such as GACERE, the Circular Economy Coalition of Latin America, and GPAP.

2. Sustainable Food Systems

In line with the EU "Farm to Fork" strategy, GIZ will promote sustainable and resilient food systems by:

Reducing the environmental footprint of food production and consumption.

Strengthening resilience to crises.

Promoting circular, sustainable, and deforestation-free value chains in agriculture, fisheries, and aquaculture.

Implementing and updating sectoral circular roadmaps consistent with the National Roadmap.

3. Communication Support

Implement the Communication Strategy with the EU Delegation to enhance visibility and stakeholder engagement.
