The project objective is to strengthen the EU's voice and position on environmental matters in G7/G20 multilateral fora as a key interlocutor at global level. More generally, the project aims to support EU’s key environmental priorities, such as achieving a prosperous resource-efficient, low-carbon and circular economy and inter-linked goals (e.g. the Sustainable Development Goals), and possibly other environmental topics, such as i.e. biodiversity.
The project is expected to produce the following results:
• Result 1: Support the EU's environmental diplomacy in G7/G20 and strengthen the EU capacity to steer decisions taken in these fora in line with EU policies in the field of environment;
• Result 2: Enhance the understanding and uptake of EU environmental policies and visibility of the EU in G7/G20 context and in individual non-EU G7/G20 countries;
• Result 3: Improve the knowledge of EU policy makers of the policy and business environment in non-EU G7/G20 countries in the field of environment, in particular resource efficiency and circular economy, marine litter and plastics management, and green finance;
• Result 4: Reinforce existing bilateral environmental policy dialogues and identify and contribute to open up new areas of bilateral cooperation between the EU and non-EU G7/G20 countries in the field of environment.
