Context
International cooperation requires strong partnerships. Whether it is decent working conditions, fair and responsible supply chains or climate change - major global challenges can only be tackled together.
Multi-stakeholder partnerships (MAPs) bring together stakeholders from at least three sectors:
- Civil society
- The state
- The private sector
- Science and research
They work together on an equal footing for the common good.
However, MAPs have varied success globally. Some partnerships have contributed significantly to major successes in international cooperation in recent years. Others have never progressed beyond the planning stage.
For MAPs to achieve good results, they need information, training, support and advice.
Objective
International MAPs can better promote fundamental change for socially responsible, climate-friendly and cost-effective development.
Approach
The project contributes to successful and equal cooperation in MAPs. As part of this, it provides them with:
- Specialist information
- Dialogue and information events
- Learning and training opportunities
- Individual advice
- Advice on initiating and planning MAPs
The project also works with ‘Engagement Global - bengo’, an advisory service for German non-governmental organisations engaged in development cooperation. Bengo supports partnerships initiated by civil society.
