Context
The Ecuadorian Government is undertaking targeted action to combat corruption. The National Development Plan 2024 to 2025 sets out targets to improve public services, public integrity, transparency, accountability and citizen participation. The Government is also adhering to signed international agreements in these areas and has developed laws and strategies accordingly.
The main challenges stem from the Government’s necessity to face challenges in order to improve the trust of the population in the state’s actions. This is also due to promote the effectiveness of public services and the reinforce the rule of law.
Objective
Governmental and non-governmental organisations implement measures that improve the public's trust in the state.
Approach
The project fosters good governance in Ecuador. It operates nationwide but focuses on eight regions. It works with political decision-makers, companies, opinion leaders, experts and public administration employees, as well as civil society and academia.
The project is implementing the following measures:
1. It improves the quality of public services for which there is strong public demand, or which have a positive impact on the business climate.
2. It develops tools that promote public integrity, such as plans to manage the risk of corruption. It also supports companies in improving their accountability, due diligence and integrity.
3. It creates instruments that promote transparency, access to information, accountability, citizen participation and the implementation of an integrity system in Ecuador and Open Government.
