Overall objective:to enable Iraqi youth to respond to the economic growth opportunities in agriculture and agri-value-chains in Iraq by provision of skills required by the labour market and enhance the employability and entrepreneurship in the sector.
The purposes:
SO1: Development of a competency based training models for TVET in agriculture and agri-value-chains.
SO2: Supporting the capacity of the current workforce in the agriculture and agri-value-chains
SO3: Establishment of a coordination mechanism for the TVET sector governance co-lead by private sector to enhance entrepreneurship and employability in agriculture and agri-value-chain sector.
SO4: Creation of awareness for opportunities for Iraqi youth of TVET in agriculture and agri-value-chains, and for green climate smart practices in the agriculture and agri-value-chain sector.
The following results are expected to be achieved in coordination with relevant Iraqi ministries and stakeholders involved in the sector and under each specific objective:
SO1: Development and implementation of a competency based training models in agriculture and agri-value-chains.
1) Production of skill development plans for the agriculture and agri-value-chain sector based on skill assessments at national and local level.
2) The implementation and testing of competency based training models including new curricula and modules developed for the selected occupations in agriculture and agri-value-chains.
3) The provisions of training to TVET trainers and upgrading their capacity applying the competency based models.
4) Piloting the application of the agriculture and agri-value-chain sector qualification framework.
SO2: Supporting the capacity of the current workforce in the agriculture and agri-value-chains
5) Capacity needs assessment of and capacity development plan for the current workforce of the agriculture and agri-value chain sector focusing on the most relevant agri-value chains
6) Design specific modules and/or adapt the CBT modules developed for TVET institutions for continuous learning measures targeting the existing workforce in the sector through the Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Labour training centres and beyond
7) Design and pilot number of training initiatives for the existing workforce in the sector to be delivered by Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Labour training centres and beyond
8) Design and implement Training of Trainers (ToT) programs in the Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Labour training centres.
SO3: Establishment of a coordination mechanism for the TVET sector governance co-lead by private sector to enhance entrepreneurship and employability in agriculture and agri-value-chain sector.
9) Implementing the new governance model of the sector established under the TVET law.
10) Establishment of agriculture and agri-value-chain sector councils at national and local levels.
11) Production of new apprenticeship schemes for agriculture and agri-value-chains as training models in collaboration with sector councils and private sector stakeholders.
12) Establishment of career development centres in TVET agriculture and agri-value-chain schools and institutions.
