At the same time, GIZ is supporting the country on its path towards EU accession. It provides advice on necessary reforms and drives the modernisation of public administration. Its decades-long record of cooperation and a network spanning the entire country mean that GIZ is well placed to offer tailored support that is both forward-looking and responsive to citizens’ needs. Around 600 staff work for GIZ in Ukraine, in about 45 projects.

Purpose of the Position: Support GIZ Ukraine’s external and internal communications by planning, producing, publishing and monitoring social media content that aligns with GIZ corporate guidelines, country communications priorities and project needs. Contribute to strengthening GIZ Ukraine’s digital presence, stakeholder engagement and reputation.

Key responsibilities:

Channel management 

  • Support day-to-day management of priority channels (e.g., LinkedIn, Instagram), incl. planning, posting, moderation and community management in line with GIZ Social Media Guidelines and Corporate Design.
  • Maintain an editorial calendar coordinating inputs from clusters, projects, corporate topics and partners.

Campaigns management

  • Support conception and rollout of thematic campaigns and priority initiatives; liaise with communications focal points in clusters and projects 

Stakeholder coordination 

  • Interface with cluster teams, corporate communications (Unternehmenskommunikation) and service providers (agencies, photographers, translators).
  • Support high-level visits, events and delegations with digital communications deliverables. 

Monitoring and analytics 

  • Track performance (reach, engagement, sentiment), prepare regular reports, and derive actionable recommendations.
  • Monitor topical trends, risks and opportunities; flag potential issues promptly (incl. escalation routines). 

Governance and processes 

  • Apply GIZ policies on social media, corporate design, data protection and compliance.
  • Contribute to process documentation (e.g., Com-Navigator) and knowledge sharing across the communications network.

      Other tasks as assigned

  • Assist with web content updates, newsletters, media assets, and internal communications.
  • Serve as social media “ambassador” 3–4 times per year for cross-cluster trainings.

Required qualifications, professional experience and personal competences:

  • University degree (communications, journalism, political science, international relations, marketing, or related field), or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1–2 years’ hands-on experience managing social media channels (internships count if substantial).
  • Proven copywriting and editing skills in English; ability to tailor content to audiences and platforms.
  • Basic visual production skills (photo/video editing, simple graphics) and familiarity with Microsoft 365 tools.
  • Experience with analytics (e.g., LinkedIn analytics, Meta Suite) and KPI reporting.
  • High proficiency in written and spoken Ukrainian and English. Good German skills are required (B2).
  • Strong communication skills, high awareness in political agenda and corporate culture

  • Structured, reliable, detail-oriented; time management skills and accuracy.
  • Proactive, solution-oriented, with sound judgment on reputational risks.
  • Team player with strong coordination and service mindset; intercultural competence.

Employment conditions:

Full-time position with 40-hours working week. Place of assignment is Kyiv. Starting as soon as possible. The contract duration will be 12 months with the possibility of prolongation.
