Agroecology: Strengthening synergies for sustainable agriculture in Cameroon

On 12 and 13 March 2026, the GIZ Rural Development Cluster in Yaoundé hosted a workshop dedicated to fostering synergies among GIZ projects and programmes, as well as their partners, on agroecological approaches implemented in Cameroon.

Agroécologie : renforcer les synergies pour une agriculture durable au Cameroun

The workshop brought together representatives from various GIZ projects, along with key stakeholders from the private sector, civil society, and the research community. Its main objective was to establish a strategic and operational framework to enhance collaboration among initiatives. This included improving coordination of actions, pooling available resources, and promoting the development of concrete partnerships in support of agroecology.

At the end of the discussions, participants achieved several key outcomes. A shared vision of agroecology was defined, helping to harmonize approaches and interventions. A matrix of synergy opportunities was also developed to identify complementarities between projects. In addition, a list of innovative initiatives in research and training was compiled.

Finally, the workshop led to the co-creation of a realistic roadmap outlining priority actions in the short and medium term to advance and strengthen agroecological practices in Cameroon.

Through this initiative, GIZ and its partners reaffirm their commitment to promoting sustainable, resilient agriculture that responds to the country’s environmental and socio-economic challenges.
