The Southern Africa Alliance on Carbon Markets and Climate Finance (SAA) was established to strengthen regional coordination and technical capacity to engage with Article 6 and global carbon markets. Through collaboration, Southern African countries can unlock climate finance while ensuring environmental integrity, achieving NDCs, and advancing sustainable development. The Alliance was officially launched on 25-26 March 2026 in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. 

 

The Article 6 Connect (A6C): Sustainable Development through Carbon Markets in Africa global project, commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, is supporting the Alliance with its establishment and operationalisation. As such the project is seeking the services of an IT consultancy based in the Southern Africa region to develop a professional, secure, and user-friendly website that reflects the Alliance’s mandate, values, and mission. The website will serve as the primary platform for disseminating information, hosting resources, facilitating collaboration among member states, and engaging external partners. The assignment includes website design and development, content management, training, and website maintenance.

7000011204 - Blue Finance Scoping Study

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), co-funded by the European Union (EU), is implementing the Blue Benguela Current Action (BBCA) in the Benguela Current Convention member states Angola, Namibia and South Africa. This project aims to strengthen the integrated conservation and sustainable use of the Benguela Current Large Marine Ecosystem including fisheries and other marine resources.

 

GIZ Namibia hereby invites qualified and experienced consultants (individuals, consortia, or civil society organisations) to submit bids for consulting services for a scoping study on innovative financing mechanisms to support Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) and Other Effective Area-Based Conservation Measures (OECMs) in the Benguela Current Large Marine Ecosystem.

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a global service provider in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development and international education work. GIZ is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE) to implement the International Hydrogen Ramp Up Program (H2Uppp) in Namibia. The H2Uppp aims to support Namibia’s ambition to become a global leader in green hydrogen production, fostering a just and inclusive energy transition.

 

Hyphen Hydrogen Energy (Pty) Ltd (“Hyphen”) is a green hydrogen development company, specifically formed to develop green hydrogen projects in Namibia for international, regional and domestic supply. As the only green hydrogen project in Namibia structured as a Public-Private Partnership with direct Government of the Republic of Namibia participation (24%), Hyphen is uniquely positioned to align project development with national industrialization objectives.
