From Bacolod to Caloocan: Cities Exchange e-Waste Solutions

The cities of Bacolod and Caloocan partnered for a hands-on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Learning Exchange, exploring how local demonstration sites can support safer e-waste collection, recycling, and policy alignment.

What cities learned from each other:
✔️ On-the-ground operations at the Bagong Silang Treatment Storage Disposal (TSD) Facility
✔️ Practical methods to track and analyze e-waste flows
✔️ Aligning local actions with national recycling and EPR policies
✔️ Building safe and inclusive systems that empower informal waste workers

Supported by the EU-PH Green Economy Partnership, this exchange fosters collaboration and knowledge sharing, providing LGUs with tools, data, and hands-on learning to strengthen e-waste management while advancing national green goals.

Funded by a P3.67 billion (€60 million) grant from the European Union in the Philippines, the EU-PH Green Economy Partnership is part of EU’s Global Gateway initiative - the European strategy engaging with partners globally and promoting investments around shared priorities such as the transition to a green economy. Led by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), this priority programme of the EU in the Philippines links European and Filipino partners from the private sector and the local government to foster a circular economy while sustaining economic growth that benefits all Filipinos.
