Connected for Change: Fostering Collaboration for Climate Action at the BAQ
As a pre-event activity for the Better Air Quality 2026 (BAQ) Conference, TRANSCEND Project hosted a session aimed at showcasing how the diverse capabilities of state and non-state actors, used to co-develop local solutions, drive impactful climate action.
As part of the Better Air Quality Conference #BAQ2026 in Bangkok, TRANSCEND Project hosted a pre-event on Connected Communities, Collective Commitment, showcasing how collaboration between local and national governments, global organizations, and cross-project partnerships can fast-track climate action.
Key partners, namely, Valme Lujan from Philippines Iloilo Provincial Government, Dominika Kalinowska of GIZ Thailand, Mahak Dawra of GIZ India , and Tammy Thompson of Environmental Defense Fund shared project examples focused on people-centered design, collaborative processes, and transforming both quantitative and qualitative data into actionable local solutions, all while responding to national and global visions for sustainable development.
With insightful presentations and local case studies fueling discussions, the event created a powerful platform for global collaboration, integrating expertise on adaptation, mitigation, and Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) mainstreaming. The event didn’t just foster synergy between TRANSCEND and Urban Act Partners; it bridged regional and global initiatives, connecting the dots across GIZ projects and other climate advocates.
TRANSCEND Project is a joint initiative between the Republic of the Philippines and the Federal Republic of Germany through the International Climate Initiative (IKI) and implemented by a consortium led by GIZ, designed to raise ambition and align with both international and national climate and biodiversity agendas through local implementation.
