GIZ and EMB-POD Advance Sustainable Cooling Solutions Through Strategic RAC Industry Engagement
In partnership with the Environmental Management Bureau – Philippine Ozone Desk (EMB-POD), GIZ conducted a strategic site visit to the Bosch manufacturing facility reinforcing collaboration with key stakeholders in the refrigeration and air conditioning (RAC) sector to support environmentally sound and energy-efficient industry practices.
The engagement focused on validating industry data for the upcoming Country Program Report, strengthening alignment with national reporting requirements, and promoting transparent, standardized monitoring systems across the RAC sector. Discussions also highlighted current industry challenges and opportunities, including workforce capacity development, reporting improvements, and the growing need for stronger competitiveness amid evolving market conditions.
As part of the visit, GIZ presented the ACT-MEPS initiative (Accelerating Air Conditioning Transformation through Enhanced Energy Performance Standards), which supports manufacturers through technical assistance, testing support, capacity-building, and policy alignment to help the industry transition toward higher energy efficiency standards and climate-friendly technologies.
The activity concluded with a facility tour showcasing Bosch’s manufacturing processes and its transition to lower-global warming potential refrigerants, demonstrating continued efforts toward sustainable cooling solutions in the Philippines.
