GIZ Green Sector Forum 2025 Highlights Innovative Financing for Climate and Nature

The GIZ Green Sector Forum (GSF) 2025, held at the GIZ Office Manila, brought together experts to explore cooperation and financing mechanisms driving the shift toward integrated, climate-resilient, and nature positive solutions.

A few people are sitting in a conference room on desks and are having a meeting.

The theme, “Investing in the Future: Cooperation and Financing Mechanisms to Support the Shift Towards Integrated Solutions,” underscored the growing need to mobilize both public and private capital for sustainable development.

The event opened with welcome remarks from GIZ Country Director Immanuel
Gebhardt, followed by keynote presentations that set the tone for the day. Mr. Klaus
Prochaska of the ADB discussed pathways to move from aid to action, by leveraging private capital and fostering cross-sector partnerships to achieve greater climate impact.

Participants gained insights from presentations on innovative financing approaches and mechanisms, which align local initiatives with national climate goals. Discussions also highlighted regional climate and biodiversity finance channels through IKI, MAF, and ASEAN IPA, carbon market policy updates, and reports from the Sector Networks SNRD-AP/TUEWAS.

The forum concluded with a plenary reporting session and reflections led by Dr.
Nicole Kranz, GIZ Climate Action Head, emphasizing shared learning and
renewed commitment to collective action. The GSF 2025 reaffirmed GIZ’s role
as a platform for dialogue and collaboration—linking ideas, resources, and
partners to scale up solutions that enable a greener, more resilient, and more
inclusive future for the Philippines and the region.
