Philippine Marine Conservation Solutions Spotlighted in PANORAMA Writeshop
From April 28–29, in Quezon City, Philippine stakeholders gathered for a focused PANORAMA Writeshop under the GIZ-implemented Solutions for Marine and Coastal Resilience in the Coral Triangle (SOMACORE) Programme, generating a strong portfolio of locally driven marine conservation solutions for global knowledge sharing.
The activity brought together representatives from local government units in Coron, Busuanga, Bauan, Pinamalayan, and Masbate, alongside partners from the Sulubaaï Environmental Foundation, Inc., the Ecosystems Research and Development Bureau (ERDB), and the El Nido Marine Turtle Conservation Network.
The case studies developed during the writeshop will be submitted to the PANORAMA – Solutions for a Healthy Planet platform, a global knowledge-sharing initiative that documents proven approaches to conservation and sustainable development. PANORAMA promotes solutions that clearly define a challenge, demonstrate measurable results, and highlight key “building blocks” that can be adapted and replicated in other contexts. By making these solutions accessible, the platform helps practitioners, policymakers, and communities learn from what works and apply these lessons across regions.
Participants underscored the importance of PANORAMA as a platform that elevates locally led solutions and makes them visible to a wider audience. They highlighted how it provides a structured way to document initiatives, enabling communities and practitioners to share their experiences, lessons, and innovations beyond their immediate contexts.
By documenting these initiatives, the Philippines contributes practical, field-tested knowledge that can inform marine conservation efforts across the Coral Triangle and beyond. The finalized case studies will join a global repository of solutions supporting sustainable ocean management and biodiversity conservation.
