Administrative Specialist on Inventory and Finance

Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in Ukraine is seeking qualified professionals for the Cluster “Sustainable Economic Development” in its office in Kyiv to fill the position of the Administrative Specialist on Inventory and Finance (full-time, Kyiv), (internal SAP code: Administrative Specialist)

The Sustainable Economic Development (SED) Cluster of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH comprises various projects implemented on behalf of the German government supporting Ukraine to develop a resilient and competitive economic sector.

Partners of the projects are Ukrainian ministries on the national level, administrations on regional level, stakeholders on the municipal level, and private sector companies. There are 8 bilateral, regional and global projects in the cluster portfolio, partly financed by the European Union and other donors. The position supports all projects within the cluster portfolio.

Key responsibilities:

  • Inventory, performing yearly inventory checks, keeping track on inventoried items
  • Formal and mathematical checking of Local Contribution financial reports, invoices, and other financing or payment requests
  • Supports program budget planning and financial management
  • Processes finance and accounting requests from Country Office, project, cluster and superior
  • Supports the preparation of financial reports, contributes to the preparation of internal and external audits
  • Advising staff members, consultants and beneficiaries on reporting and invoicing
  • Accompanies team members to meetings if necessary
  • Deputy function to other Administrative Specialists and Finance Managers in the Service Unit of the cluster
  • Ensures smooth communication and cooperation with other specialists of the Service Unit, technical staff of the Project and GIZ Ukraine Country Office
  • Performs other duties and tasks at the request of management.

Required qualifications, professional experience and personal competences:

  • University degree, desirable BA/MA in accounting, economics or similar area
  • At least 3 years’ professional experience in a comparable position is desirable
  • Keen on details within pre-checking of financial reports and statements
  • Good knowledge of Ukrainian legislation and accounting requirements
  • Clear and concise language
  • Fluent written and oral knowledge of English and Ukrainian, knowledge of German would be an advantage
  • Ability to work under pressure, reliability and flexibility
  • Excellent working knowledge of ITC technologies and computer applications, particularly EXCEL, MS SharePoint, and other MS Office applications
  • Experienced working in an international team; working experience with EU funded projects would be an asset
  • Good self-organization skills
  • Customer and service-oriented attitude
  • Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed

Employment conditions:

Full-time position with 40-hours working week. Place of assignment is Kyiv. Starting as soon as possible. The contract duration will be 12 months with the possibility of prolongation.
