National Intern
On behalf of the German Federal Foreign Office and the European Union, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH implements the programme „Strengthening Ukraine’s EU Alignment in the Rule of Law Programme (3*E4U)“ and is looking for a National Intern.
3*E4U supports Ukraine’s alignment with EU standards related to chapters 23 and 24 of the EU Acquis. 3*E4U works across four outputs: legal and policy advice, strengthening independent and efficient institutions, experience exchange in judiciary, and enhancing methods of financial investigation. Key partner institutions include the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister on European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Asset Recovery Management Agency, the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine, the Constitutional Court, the Supreme Court, the High Council of Justice, the High Qualifications Commission of Judges, and the Parliamentary Commissioner for Human Rights.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the overall guidance of the assigned programme team member, tasks of the intern may include:
- Conducting legal and policy research related to Chapters 23 and 24 of the EU acquis;
- Conducting analysis of draft legislative amendments, good EU practices, lessons learned and preparing draft memos and other analytical outputs;
- Supporting the programme team in knowledge management;
- Summarising decisions, reports, and other materials of EU institutions, international organisations, and other relevant bodies;
- Monitoring developments in the rule of law sector and keeping the programme team up to date;
- Supporting the programme team in preparing and conducting workshops, roundtables, conferences, and other programme activities with stakeholders;
- Other tasks upon request.
Requirements:
- Enrolled student (at least third year) or recent graduate in Law, International Law, Political Science, International Relations, or a related field;
- Strong analytical and writing skills;
- Confident user of Microsoft Office;
- The intern is expected to be be physically located in Kyiv, Ukraine, during the period of internship.
- Native proficiency in Ukrainian;
- Good level of written and spoken English;
- German language skills are an asset.
Duration of Contract:
Up to three months. Duty station – Kyiv, Ukraine. The internship is paid. Typical workload for an intern is 20 hours per week, but it may be increased/decreased depending on availability. Remuneration will be adapted accordingly.
