Empowering Change: Our commitment to mainstreaming gender and diversity

Driving change

We are committed to driving change and fostering gender equality in alignment with the 2030 Agenda (SDG 5). As an organisation, we are undergoing a cultural transformation. A significant part of this change encompasses integrating gender and diversity considerations not only in our cooperation and implementation, but also all Human Resources (HR) policies and processes ranging from staff recruitment to staff development.

Inclusion – a strategic necessity

Ensuring inclusivity within an institution is not just a moral imperative; it is a strategic necessity that leads to organisational success in a sustainable manner. GIZ’s approach to inclusion is multifaceted, which address issues at various levels and dimensions of our institution.

One such crucial dimension is adjusting our HR policies and procedures. We are taking concrete steps to embed gender and diversity considerations into each position/function. This means that each function is tailored to align with the organisational commitment towards inclusion, diversity, and equality. Each job description/function/position at GIZ Pakistan is integrated with tasks related to gender and diversity, and every employee is accountable for fulfilling these tasks as their core duties among others. Gender and diversity are, therefore, explicitly mentioned as a desired competence in each function.

Cultivating a diverse workforce

By ensuring that gender and diversity are integral components and mainstreamed in each job designation/function, we are reconfiguring our personnel guiding framework. This approach aims to cultivate a diverse workforce with a balanced gender ratio across all organisational levels.

These progressive initiatives are part of our ongoing efforts to enhance opportunities for marginalised groups within our workforce. We are dedicated to implementing gender and diversity-sensitive HR policies and procedures that will create a culture where everyone’s unique strengths are celebrated.

Gender and diversity – a living reality

Our goal is clear: to establish a workplace culture that champions inclusivity. For us, gender and diversity are not just buzzwords but ingrained in our organisational structures and processes. We are working towards a future where gender equality and diversity is not just an aspiration but a living reality.
