Call for expression of interest for provision of services: Journalist / Story Producer

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a global service provider in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development. 

GIZ Office in Skopje in the frame of the project “Regional Capacity Development Network for Water and Sanitation Services (RCDN)” is looking for one individual local short-term consultant with experience in journalism / story producing in order to provide support in capturing and communicating the achievements of RCDN+ grants and selected activities through human-cantered narratives, supporting the GIZ team to ensure that results are systematically documented, partner associations are actively involved and empowered to use the stories for their own promotion and advocacy, and donor contributions are clearly and consistently recognized, thereby transforming project outputs into a visible and lasting legacy of change. The support shall result into compelling, partner-owned stories that showcase impact and donor contributions. Focus cooperation topic: Water and Sanitation Services (WSS).

The project “Regional Capacity Development Network for Water and Sanitation Services (RCDN)” aims at increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of the Associations of public utilities (APUCs) and of local governments (LGAs) in the 6 Western Balkan countries, which contributes to better service provision for and by their members, ultimately allowing to deliver equitable, safely managed drinking water and sanitation services to the population, in line with international standards. The project is jointly financed by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and development (BMZ), and it is administratively embedded in the GIZ Project “Open Regional Fund for Southeast Europe - Modernisation of Municipal Services (ORF MMS)”, commissioned by BMZ. 

Task of the expert include:

  • Grant stories (deliverables per grant – 15 media packages in total)
  • Event Stories (deliverables per story - 10 media packages in total)
  • Additional thematic success stories (deliverables per story - 10 media packages in total).

Location: North Macedonia, Western Balkans and DACH countries (Germany, Austria and Switzerland).

Planned period of assignment: April 2026 - December 2027

Eligibility Criteria

Interested individual consultants (natural persons) should meet the following minimum requirements.

The Declaration of Eligibility of the expert expressing her/his interest must be submitted in signed PDF. It must contain the contact details of the applicant (name, postal address, email, telephone, etc.) and the following information arranged as in the following table:

Professional experience:

- Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience in media, journalism, or communication.

- Proven experience in producing multimedia content (video, storytelling, reporting, editing).

- Proven experience in development cooperation projects.

 
3Experience in the 6 Western Balkans countries. 
4Excellent knowledge of English.
