Objective
An innovative public-private approach offers demand oriented education to train qualified technicians and engineers. The approach contributes to improve employability and employment.
Approach
Together with Siemens Energy and a public Egyptian vocational educational institute (Productivity & Vocational Training Department - PVTD) GIZ works to establish and operate an Egyptian German Technical Academy (EGTA). Apart from being a training provider EGTA will function as a role model, offering real life, hands on technical experience for employees, trainees, students, teachers, and in-company trainers. EGTA will provide training in the areas of renewable energy, automation, and digitalisation. Moreover, it will bring in international expertise.
The Egyptian German Technical Academy
- offers a Train of Trainers (ToT) programme for technical disciplines.
- offers a full suite of hands-on automation, Programming Logic and Control (PLC) and NX Siemens Software Computer Aided Design (CAD)/Computer Aided Manufacuring (CAM) and reverse engineering software training, which is highly sought after by many manufacturers.
- is expected be the second largest Global Wind Organization (GWO) certified training facility for basic safety and wind turbine technicians training in Egypt, and for that matter, the Middle East.
- will be the only facility in Egypt offering a female empowerment programme consisting of soft skills and technical training.
The Alliance is part of the GIZ cluster “Education and Sustainable Growth for Decent Jobs”, which remains one of the core areas of German-Egyptian cooperation.
