Context
Since gaining independence in 1991, Uzbekistan has implemented significant structural reforms and become Central Asia’s most dynamic country. The transformation has had a positive impact on the economy, politics and society.
After the adoption of the national action strategy for 2017 to 2021, reforms have accelerated once again. The country has not only significantly improved its investment climate, it has also created more liberal, transparent and favourable conditions for entrepreneurs.
With the Uzbekistan 2030 development strategy, Uzbekistan’s government is continuing the transition to a market-orientated economy. The focus is on a green economy, intensive development of agriculture, compliance with international standards and socio-economic planning in all regions – with less influence from central government.
Objective
Local economic development is being driven forward in the regions of Uzbekistan.
