North Macedonia has taken a significant step toward a fairer and more modern labour market with the launch of the implementation of the Law on Work Engagement of Persons. The law aims to formalize seasonal work, improve transparency, and simplify procedures for both employers and employees.

Speaking at the launch event, German Ambassador H.E. Petra Drexler highlighted the law’s role in advancing the country’s digital transformation in employment policies. “Through upgraded e-registration systems and integrated tax and social contribution collection, North Macedonia is not only formalizing seasonal work but also positioning itself as a leader in digital labour market solutions,” she stated.

The new law introduces simplified electronic registration for seasonal and temporary workers, which will make employment procedures easier for businesses while reducing informal employment. This digital approach ensures more efficient processing, strengthens compliance, and improves overall transparency in the labour market.

The launch marks an important milestone in the country’s efforts to modernize employment practices and strengthen legal protections for workers, while also promoting digital solutions that benefit the wider economy.
