Presenting the GIZ African Union Annual Report - Connecting People, Economies, Continents
We are delighted to present the 2025 Annual Report of GIZ African Union!
Under the theme “Connecting People, Economies, Continents,” the report explores our work with the African Union towards an integrated Africa, and a stronger partnership between Africa, Germany and the European Union.
Under the theme “Connecting People, Economies, Continents,” the report explores our work with the African Union towards an integrated Africa, and a stronger partnership between Africa, Germany and the European Union.
This report presents stories of connections, such as our work to bring people together by promoting the free movement of persons, how the African Continental Free Trade Area is connecting economies and opening economic opportunities for Germany and Europe, our efforts to connect countries and continents through cross-border infrastructure, the use of digitalisation to enable investment and collaboration, and sustained efforts towards a peaceful and secure Africa.
And since we value other perspectives, we bring a lot of them in - from personal stories to insights from the private sector and policy perspectives. We talked to Birgit Pickel, Director-General Africa at BMZ, about the importance of the AU, how German companies can benefit from AU-cooperation, and climate action in Africa. We asked Sabine Dall’Omo, CEO for Sub-Saharan Africa at Siemens, about the role of infrastructure in Africa’s economic growth, and Michael Marmon-Halm, Managing Director Ghana at the fair chocolate producer fairafric, speaks about his first exposure to the AfCFTA and how it could help his company reaching African markets in addition to European ones.
This report is available in English, French, and German. You’ll find them on our website:
