Young African climate innovators took part in the Africa’s Green Economy Summit 2026, gaining first-hand insight into sustainable finance, investment decision-making, and the partnerships shaping the continent’s green transition. Their participation highlights the importance of ensuring that the next generation of entrepreneurs is included in the conversations that define Africa’s future.

Europe remains a major partner in financing sustainable energy in Africa, contributing EUR 20.67 billion to SDG7 (affordable and clean energy) between 2014–2023. While progress has been made, a recent report identifies gaps and areas for improvement.

African maritime leaders and partners gathered in Abuja to shape a shared vision for greener ports and cleaner shipping. The continental workshop marked an important step towards coordinated climate action, sustainable infrastructure and a unified African position in global maritime discussions.

Under the theme “Connecting People, Economies, Continents,” the report explores our work with the African Union towards an integrated Africa, and a stronger partnership between Africa, Germany and the European Union.

A new online knowledge hub is now available to support African cities in responding to climate risks, disasters, and rapid urban growth. Resilience Insight Africa provides practical tools, research, and policy guidance to help decision-makers and communities plan more resilient urban futures.

The African Union Commission welcomed 22 journalists and content creators to launch the AU Media Fellowship Cohort 3.0, beginning their first study visit in Addis Ababa. The fellowship strengthens African storytelling, connects citizens with institutions, and advances Agenda 2063 through informed, solutions-driven journalism .

For many women traders along the Senegal - Guinea-Bissau border, crossing the border is part of daily life. Integrated border governance is helping traders move more easily across borders – boosting livelihoods, reducing friction, and strengthening regional integration.

For too long, migration policy responses have been addressed in silos and treated as isolated technical issues rather than a central pillar of development. The African Union Coordination Committee on Migration (AU CCM) is helping to change this approach through cross-departmental coordination.

We are proud to announce that one of our initiatives won the GIZ Gender Award 2026, recognised for its outstanding commitment to promoting Gender Equality. By leveraging community spaces and grassroots leadership, this initiative is transforming lives, advancing gender equality, and creating sustainable change in some of the city’s most vulnerable neighborhoods.
