Around 50 representatives from key institutions gathered in Skopje for a workshop on cyber diplomacy, highlighting the growing importance of coordinated responses to cyber threats. The event fostered dialogue, knowledge exchange, and cooperation to strengthen cybersecurity resilience in North Macedonia and the Western Balkans.
Cybersecurity and cyber diplomacy are increasingly recognized as essential pillars for peace, stability, and international cooperation in the digital age. As cyber threats continue to evolve and impact societies worldwide, strengthening awareness and collaboration among national institutions has become a key priority.
Around 50 representatives from key national institutions gathered today in Skopje at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade for a workshop dedicated to strengthening awareness and cooperation in the field of cyber diplomacy. The event was opened by Ambassador Mr. Vele Trpevski and Mr. Kevin Maass from the German Embassy in Skopje.
During the opening remarks, Mr. Maass emphasized the growing importance of international cooperation in addressing cyber threats. “Cyber diplomacy has become a must if we want to ensure coordinated responses to threats and strengthen resilience in cyberspace,” he noted.
Participants discussed the increasing geopolitical relevance of cyberspace and explored both the risks and opportunities linked to the rapid development of artificial intelligence. The workshop also focused on the importance of coordinated responses at the national, regional, and international levels in order to effectively address cyber threats.
In addition, the event highlighted Germany’s contribution through the Partnership for Strengthening Cybersecurity under the Berlin Process, which supports regional cooperation and capacity building in the Western Balkans.
By bringing together representatives from key institutions, the workshop provided a platform for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and stronger networking among cybersecurity actors. Such initiatives contribute to building a safer and more resilient digital environment in North Macedonia and the wider Western Balkans.
