On December 1st 2022, a Capacity4Change event took place in Brussels on the topic of Digital Transformation and Public Administration in the Eastern Partnership region, in cooperation with GIZ, the European Parliament and DG NEAR.

The GIZ Representations in Berlin and Brussels organised a high-level talk on private sector engagement in the EU Global Gateway with distinguished speakers from the EU Commission, German government, private sector, practitioners, and policy experts.

Over 100 representatives from European institutions, Member States, civil society, think tanks, partner organisations and youth representatives came together for GIZ’s first major in-person event in Brussels since the start of the pandemic.

The GIZ Representation in Brussels, together with its partners ADAN, ADEPT and the project WIDU.africa, hosted an exchange about the importance of hybrid financial instruments and capacity development to reach the bottom of the pyramid in Africa.

The GIZ Representation in Brussels invited religious and faith-based actors, implementing agencies, and policymakers to discuss the role of local actors in addressing food and nutrition security in the context of the Africa-EU partnership.

It was assessed the opportunities and challenges of working in the field of sport for development, which touches many dimensions of development cooperation, but also raises the question of what role it can play in the EU agenda for external action.
