In 2006, Germany and India founded the Indo-German Energy Forum (IGEF) to enhance political dialogue around the energy transition.
The IGEF serves as a platform for the governments and business organisations of both countries to exchange knowledge, promote investment and collaborate on research. Germany and India are thus supporting each other in achieving their energy policy goals.
The governments of Germany and India are contributing to the global energy transition. The transformation of India’s energy market is being driven forward.
The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and the Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW) implement the IGEF in cooperation with the Indian Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE).
The IGEF organises dialogue between officials who contribute to the energy transition in Germany and India. In addition, four subgroups meet regularly to discuss topics relating to the energy transition and energy efficiency. The project has also set up a Indian-German working group on green hydrogen.
The project provides a secretariat in India that supports the Indo-German partnership with organisation and content. The secretariat serves as a point of contact and information platform for all stakeholders and interested parties.
