GIZ carries out a wide range of activities within Germany.
The country is facing challenges at national and international level, and is embarking on a number of transformation processes. The expertise we have acquired in international cooperation for sustainable development and in international education work is extremely valuable in meeting these challenges. In Germany GIZ works with organisations such as the Academy for International Cooperation to foster mutual learning and networking as drivers of successful cooperation.
As a federal enterprise with four regional offices in Germany, we support the German states in implementing their international cooperation projects. The regional offices also serve as intermediaries, bringing together partner institutions and experts from the individual German states both in and with projects of the German Federal Government and other donors.
There is great potential in strengthening ties between foreign trade promotion and international cooperation in partner countries, also for German and European companies. GIZ works closely with the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (DIHK) and the German Chambers of Commerce Abroad.
In addition, we help companies and foundations in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda and realising their worldwide business potential in developing countries and emerging economies. We advise private sector firms and civil society actors on individual cooperative projects, either under direct commissions or in partnerships. We support projects from their inception and design all the way to implementation in the field.
